MBI Al Jaber Foundation’s Continued Support for Connecting Cultures
The MBI Al Jaber Foundation is proud to announce its continuing support for Connecting Cultures with a grant towards its desert journey to Oman in November 2009. This year’s of Connecting Cultures’ desert journey is also endorsed and supported by the UNESCO office in Doha, as well as ISESCO.
Established in 2004, Connecting Cultures is a unique educational initiative that seeks to promote face to face dialogue. This year, Connecting Cultures will take 18 youth, both from the West and the Arab world, on an expedition for 5 days in the Oman desert, where they will engage in cultural and educational exchanges aimed at giving them a new perspective on the world and each other. Connecting Cultures hopes to engage thousands of young people on this journey through its interactive website on which blog pieces, diaries and videos are shared by the students and a series of downloadable English and Arabic lesson plans are available for teachers to use. These plans were developed in partnership with UNESCO. On 6th April 2009, at the UN Alliance of Civilisations Market Place of Ideas for Innovative Projects held in Istanbul, Connecting Cultures was identified as one of the world’s most innovative civil society projects in the field of intercultural dialogue.
