MBI Al Jaber Foundation Project Applications & FAQs

Project Proposal Applications

The primary activity of the MBI Al Jaber Foundation is to promote better understanding between the peoples of the Middle East and the wider world.

We hope to achieve this through the support of academic, educational and cultural projects.  We value our ongoing projects with our current partner institutions but we also look forward to the new opportunities that are presented by applicants through project proposals.

Any individual or organisation with a specific project that shares the aims of the MBI Al Jaber Foundation can apply for funding through the submission of a project proposal.

Applicants should be prepared to give a presentation to the Director and the Head of Projects and, if necessary, the Trustees.

The MBI Al Jaber Foundation accepts project proposals on a rolling basis throughout the year; however, shortlisted proposals are submitted for consideration at our quarterly Trustees meetings.

All applicants will be contacted by the Foundation upon submission of their proposals. If the submitted project proposal falls within the remit and funding capabilities of the Foundation, and has been shortlisted, applicants will be contacted again after the Trustees meeting to be informed of the outcome.

However, please be informed that we have reached our maximum capacity for projects at this time and therefore, we are not currently accepting applications.

Please visit this page again soon for future announcements.

FAQs

Who can apply?

Any individual or organisation can submit a proposal for funding to the MBI Al Jaber Foundation.  To be considered, projects need to meet the agreed aims of the Foundation. In general, successful projects are usually conducted in partnership with other likeminded individuals or institutions.

How do I apply?

Projects should be submitted to the MBI Al Jaber Foundation via post to The MBI Al Jaber Foundation, 78-80 Wigmore Street, W1U 2SJ London, UK or email to projects@mbifoundation.com.

When can I apply?

Proposals are accepted by the Foundation on a rolling basis.  Applicants can send their proposals at any time throughout the year.

What kinds of projects does the MBI Al Jaber Foundation consider?

The Project pages on our website will show you the range of areas we have covered. We will consider projects that meet the aim of the Foundation to build bridges between the Middle East and the wider world, and therefore we prefer projects in which this aim is clearly spelled out.

We also favour partnerships rather than direct grant-giving, and will expect to be kept informed and updated on the progress and evaluation of any project.

Does the MBI Al Jaber Foundation fund on a long-term or a project-by-project basis?

We generally like to get involved and stay involved with the individuals and organisations that we provide funding.  The MBI Al Jaber Foundation provides grants to both specific one-off events/projects and to ongoing initiatives.  As a whole, we like to get to know our partners first so if you are introducing yourself to us for the first time with a new proposal, it is more likely that we will consider starting off with a smaller more specific grant with the potential to work together again in the future once we know each other better.

How much funding can I apply for?

Applicants may submit project proposals with any budget; however with a new proposal, please be aware that it is more likely that you will be funded if you submit a proposal with a smaller budget.

What documents should I submit with my proposal?

In general, the formation, materials and content of project proposal applications are up the discretion of the applicant.  However, all project proposal applications to the MBI Al Jaber Foundation should include a full proposal including the downloadable Project Proposal Coversheet found below along with a detailed budget and any other supporting documents.  Applicants should be prepared to give a presentation to the Director and the Head of Projects and, if necessary, the Trustees.

When should I expect feedback on my proposal?

Once received by the MBI Al Jaber Foundation by email or post, applicants will receive an email in response from the Foundation.  Project proposals are accepted throughout the year but they are reviewed and considered in tranches, and shortlisted proposals are then submitted to the Trustees for consideration and approval.  If the MBI Al Jaber Foundation has any questions or requires any further information or documentation regarding your project, you will be contacted in the interim.  Otherwise, applicants with shortlisted proposals will be contacted again regarding the outcome of your proposal after the decision has been made by the Trustees.

Can I discuss my project with someone in the MBI Al Jaber Foundation?

In general, the Foundation does not accept telephone inquiries.  Please email any queries to projects@mbifoundation.com and your email will be replied to in a timely manner. Please be sure to include your contact information should we need to contact you for any reason.

Please be advised that the Foundation does not give reasons or feedback to applicants on decisions made on proposals.

Please note that the Foundation does not take telephone queries. Please email any queries to projects@mbifoundation.com and your email will be replied to in a timely manner.

MBI Al Jaber Foundation

The MBI Al Jaber Foundation was born from Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber's desire to promote better understanding between the peoples of the Middle East and the wider world.

We believe that better understanding will be achieved through education and an awareness of and respect for each others’ cultures.
