The MBI Al Jaber Foundation - MBI & UNESCO
Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber believes that peace and stability in the Middle East can only be brought about with better education, which in turn is a prerequisite for democracy. UNESCO's pursuit of peace and security based on human rights and fundamental freedoms is firmly in accordance with those beliefs.
Mr Al Jaber signed an ambitious protocol with the Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura to promote educational and curriculum reform and teacher training in order for students from the region to better compete with their counterparts in the world. On March 18th, 2005, the Director-General officially nominated Mr Al Jaber, UNESCO Education, Human Rights, Tolerance, and Cultures to build Peace and Democracy Special Envoy.
This nomination is the fruition of Mr Al Jaber's many activities in support of Arab culture through his bold and efficient actions at a time when the Arab world is undergoing major changes.
